Leadership Matters - Back To School

Along with the work done by the seven COVID-19 Task Forces, our school district departments and schools have also been working tirelessly through the summer. For example, personal protective equipment has been ordered and delivered to schools. Added sanitation and disinfecting measures have been put in place. Chromebooks have been ordered so every student will have access to a computer device. Bus routes have been adjusted for new neighborhoods and to meet the needs of the updated schedule. New school lunch menus were created to accommodate the different lunchroom needs as we space students 6-feet apart while eating. Education and health plans were reviewed to help best meet individual needs. New teaching resources were created to assist with bringing blended learning into the classroom. And really, so much more.

I appreciate the feedback and support we have received from our parents and community over the past several months. We have worked hard to give parents options for their students. Whether students are beginning the 2020-2021 school year in a classroom or online, the common goal is to provide a positive and meaningful opportunity for students to learn and grow. It’s going to take all of us to make this a successful school year.

This year, all TCSD staff and students will be required to learn and follow new safety and health protocols. We will continue to follow guidance from the state and local health departments regarding school opening and possible closures. The best way to accomplish our goal of a meaningful and safe school year is for everyone to demonstrate responsibility by protecting ourselves and others and following the guidelines for reopening.

For additional information about going back to school, please go to our 2020 Fall Opening Guidelines at http://www.tooeleschools.org/apps/pages/TCSDfall2020. Check back often as items are subject to change.

Again, welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

With Warm Regards,
